Mormon Helping Hands from LDS Charities joined together to help residents at the Shekinah Home Senior Women’s Care Center in Klang, Malaysia. Ten young volunteers worked to dress up the home landscape and make it more inviting for the residents and staff. Removal of a large tree stump required many volunteers trading off digging and use of a pick axe. Two axe handles and a shovel were broken in the process (later replaced), but the stump finally gave in to the determination and muscle of the energetic volunteers. The stump extraction and the removal of a rod iron fence and gate opened up the side yard for the residents to enjoy. The side yard was further spruced up by the volunteers trimming the grass and pulling weeds.

Other projects that day included washing windows and the creation of a new poster mounted on the dining room wall showing the birthdates of each of the residents. As part of their weekly on-going efforts at the care center the volunteers have also painted several rooms.
The volunteers were rewarded with a delicious lunch prepared by the care center cook.
The Shekinah Care Center for Women was established in 2003 by the Women of TAC Methodist Church. Mrs Violet Dass is the chair person and the supervisor is Mrs. Leela Ramani.
