The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Singapore hosted an interfaith dinner on June 12, 2026 bringing together 50 guests from different faith communities for a meaningful evening of fellowship, dialogue, and friendship.
The gathering provided an opportunity for participants to connect, strengthen relationships, and celebrate the shared values of compassion, service, and community. Guests enjoyed warm conversations and the spirit of unity as they came together for dinner and durians.
“Thank you for a lovely evening of fellowship and durians! We really need such gathering of friends from different faiths and your Church is in the right direction,” said Kuek Yi Hsing, a member of the National Spiritual Assembly of the Baha'is of Singapore.
See Guat Kwee, founding chairman of the Centre for Interfaith Understanding echoed his thanks and remarks, adding, “Such a delicious combination with friends from the different faith communities.” The evening also provided an opportunity for guests to meet the newly appointed Singapore Stake Presidency leadership of the Church locally. The Stake Presidency, comprising lay volunteers President Christian Hsieh and his counsellors Paul Chan and Steven Lesser, shared their commitment to strengthening ties with the wider community and continuing to foster meaningful interfaith relationships.
As part of the programme, guests were introduced to FamilySearch, a free online family history platform operated by FamilySearch International, a non-profit organisation sponsored by the Church. FamilySearch helps individuals discover, preserve, and share their family histories by providing access to billions of historical records and tools that allow people to build family trees and learn more about their ancestors.
Through initiatives such as FamilySearch and interfaith gatherings, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints seeks to promote family connections, service, and collaboration with communities around the world.
The interfaith dinner was a wonderful reflection of the importance of coming together across different backgrounds to build a more caring and connected community.
“This evening was a heartwarming reminder that when people of different faiths come together in friendship, understanding grows and communities flourish,” said National Director Lavon Lew who leads the Church’s Singapore Communications Council. “We are grateful to the many faith communities, organizations, and friends who have welcomed us with open hearts. More than a renewal of friendships, this gathering reaffirmed our shared commitment to interfaith harmony. We are looking forward to working together to support and build our community together.“
